writeathon fund raiser
28 June 2003

The idea here was that people came to Readings Bookshop in Port Melbourne one Saturday to spend a certain amount of time writing. The event lasted for 12 hours.

About 80 writers with varying degrees of talent got people to sponsor them — 10 cents a word or $10 a page, whatever they could manage — and they came along and wrote whatever they wanted to. Some wrote letters to refugees for an hour or so.

It was a financial success, helping to raise over $3000 towards RAC's running costs.
